All Sentinels are screened, over 40, and many are alumni of your student's college. Each Sentinel can host up to 4 students.
Each Sentinel lives within fifteen miles of campus and has reliable transportation.
They can offer a safe space for up to two nights if your student feels unsafe or needs immediate support.
Weekly check-ins keep parents informed and connected.

Nourishment & Guidance

Every Sentinel provides a healthy, home-cooked Sunday meal.
They offer encouragement, emotional support, and a familiar "home base" during a challenging transition.
Many Sentinels have specialized experience in specific majors, careers, and industries.

Local Expertise

Sentinels know Charleston well — the campus, the city, the businesses, and the resources students actually use.
They help students navigate college life, the city, internships, and even early career opportunities.

Flexible Costs & Payments

Sentinels set their own monthly rates — there is no fixed fee. Some offer mentorship free of charge as a way to give back to the community.
The maximum monthly rate a Sentinel can charge is $400, ensuring affordability and accessibility.
The contract is between the Sentinel and the Parent/Guardian, creating a clear and direct relationship.
All payments are processed securely through our platform using Stripe, with a 15% platform fee automatically deducted.
Parents receive automatic receipts and tracking, while Sentinels receive secure payouts for their mentorship services.
